home and garden show overview

27 Jan

This past weekend was the South Bay’s Home and Garden Show. It was fun and tiring! Three consecutive days is a little much for us and the kitties. There was a total of four adoptions this weekend and left with quite a few leads for other possible adoptions in the coming weeks. We were hoping for more, but anytime a kitty goes to a furever home it’s considered a success.  We will be at the Milpitas PetSmart again this Saturday and hope to find a furever home for our foster kitties.

Below you will see a slideshow of all the kitties that were available for adoption this weekend.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

new phone..yay!

16 Jan

Well, as of wednesday, the boyfriend and I finally got the much deserved and needed phone upgrade.

Introducing our new babies! the samsung focus,  it’s a wp7 phone. and I gotta say I do love it.
we were thinking of getting the iphone4, but after much research, visiting stores, and seeing them in action, we settled on the focus.
the screen is bright and vibrant (SAMOLED screen), it fits nicely in your hand, it’s thin and sleek and light, it’s pretty to look at, the UI is very user friendly, it has an uber nice camera, overall, very happy with this phone. the only cons i see right now is the copy paste function is lacking and it’s not possible to have custom ringtones, but that should all be fixed with the update to be release this month, tentatively.

To sweeten the deal, we got it while on special at costco and it came with free goodies and I’ve already ordered our cases and screen protectors. check out the link above for complete specs and these links from Engadget and CNET for a complete review. It’s a beaut.

cardboard toys

10 Jan

I have a tendency to buy cat toys which I am certain my cats will play with and adore; it never works out that way. They always play with the packaging instead and every time I order something online, they play with the cardboard box and even make beds out of them.

After finally conceding to the fact that my cats are like all cats and that they love cardboard, I made them some toys to play with.
I was looking online for some DIY toys to make them and found quite a few good links for cardboard toys.

First off is the peek a price cardboard toy box, which i found a good tutorial for on My Daily Obsessions. As you can tell my kitty wanted to give me some pointers on how to cut out some circles..or maybe he just wanted to take a nap on his new toy. Next to the toy box is a string of toilet paper rings taped together that I put into the toy box after and watched them try to get it out. Other toys can be put in there also for some kitty fun time.

Next, I’ve been thinking of making this for the longest time. So, I finally did. There’s a tutorial on how to make cardboard scratcher over at Design Sponge, but honestly it’s super easy. You just need a lot of cardboard cut into same length strips, scissors and some tape and you can always decorate it however you want. You can paint it, glue some fabric or colored paper over the last strip, or just leave it bare like I have.

Lastly, I have not yet tried it out, but it’s on my list on cardboard toys to make next. It’s pdf printables available at Marmalade Pets; there’s a mouse, a ball, and jack cardboard toys.

I’ve also been meaning to give this idea of a scratcher a try.

new year

6 Jan

Well, it’s the new year and might as well put this blog to some use.  I’ve had this blog for a while but never got around to using it, maybe this year will be different, maybe not, we shall see.

So, it has now become the blog of random acts of insanity..both human and pet alike.
I want to say we (my boyfriend and I) will be posting all things related to our lives (which are not really that random) but with four cats, one hedgehog, being foster parents and working and trying to make this apartment our home, sometimes it can seem that way.

Anyway, down to the good stuff; we’ll be posting all kinds of things, from pics of our animals, our foster cats, our DIY projects, my craft (knitting, crocheting, sewing, general) projects, and his never ending quest to have as many exotic animals as possible (one can dream right ), to his love of anthropomorphizing animal for his own needs, such as a helper raccoon.

So, here we leave you with an awesome Santa pic, that is just a little bit late; and I will work on getting this blog a little more personalized.
