oinky and lemmy got adopted!

8 Apr

Good News! Lemmy and Oinky were adopted this past Saturday!

They went to an excellent couple that had been looking for a pair of orange tabby brothers since last year. When they saw their pictures, they had to have them. It was quite a “journey” to get their place though.

I posted an ad on CL early in the day on Thursday and got a reply that same night. We exchanged a bunch of emails getting to know each other and before deciding to do a home visit. We finally agreed to do a home visit on Saturday. So before that we had to get ready to go meet them, which meant getting Lemmy out of the adoption center and back home for the night. We had to wait quite a long time for the adoption coordinator to meet up with so we could scan their microchips, but it all got done. Saturday morning, we were very excited to get to their place. They live about 35 minutes away and up in the hills. So, anyone that knows me knows that I am pretty scared of heights, but what most people don’t know is that I’m also scared of ramps; I have this fear that I will one day drive off the ramp. Anyway, when we got there, we met the adopter at the gate and were instructed to follow her all the way to the top and we did, little did we know it was really all the way to the top.  It was windy, it was rampy, and the road had gotten smaller due to the rains. Needless to say I was petrified. But, once we got to their home I was okay, until it was time to come back down.

So we got to their place, very nice house. The couple breeds German Shepherds and a couple were out, so they put them away and we continued on to the house. We opened the carrier and let both kitties out. Oinky was the first one out, but he just wanted to go hide somewhere. Lemmy on the other hand was quite the explorer. He went all over the house and even managed to squeeze under the china cabinet and came out with a toy, typical. Oinky hid the whole time and even tried to get under the couch, unsuccessfully. They decided to adopt both right then and there, we did all the paper work and just like that, Lemmy and Oinky were adopted.

We miss them still, we had them for over nine month and it’s been less than a week, but we know they are in a good home and now we can open our home to foster and help more kitties. I took this picture of them on the morning of their home visit. BF will kill me, but it was too cute.
